The History of Willisville-Percy High School
 
The towns of Percy (population 942) and Willisville (population 694) are located in far southwestern Illinois.  Percy is located in the eastern portion of Randolph County and Willisville is located in the southwestern portion of Perry County. The two towns are connected by Illinois Route 4 and are about 50 miles southeast of East St. Louis.  You can read more about each town's individual history on their individual pages on this site.
 
In either 1946 or 1947 the towns of Percy and WIllisville agreed to consolidate their educational efforts.  This resulted in the creation of the Willisville-Percy School District. We will need some assistance in sorting out the facts from here on.  We do know that Willisville-Percy won a District basketball title in 1948.  However in the Trico School District history it is stated that the Trico District was formed in 1948.  A new school for the new District was constructed in a country setting near Campbell Hill and was in operation in 1953.  We believe that Willisville-Percy joined this new effort shortly after its creation.  The exact year of this consolidation is not known.
 
We also believe that the high school for Willisville-Percy was located in Willisville.  We are searching for information on the fate of Willisville-Percy High School.

Willisville-Percy High School definitely offered boys basketball (www.ihsa.org).  Baseball and track were probably also offered.  Team nickname, school colors, fight song, and conference affiliation are all being sought at this time.

The WPHS boys of 1947-48 brought home the school's only District Championship.  Unfortunately this is the only information we currently have available on Williisville-Percy athletics.  We are searching for the better team records and coaches names of this and other great Willisville-Percy High School teams.
